Climate change threatens a host of species in the Red Sea

Overall, the expedition revealed alarming signs of decline in the southern reefs of the sea. The world’s coral reefs are under severe stress from climate change. If the Earth’s average temperature rises by 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, up to 99% of reefs will be destroyed.
However, it is possible that the corals of the Red Sea, due to the terrain and warm water, may be more resilient to such challenges and easier to conserve.
